Are you preparing to write the R.F.P.® Technical Examination?
Are you sure that you are studying everything you need to know?

Are you up to date on changes to the Income Tax Act?

The Institute of Advanced Financial Planners™ (IAFP) confers the Registered Financial Planner® designation.  The process of upgrading to the R.F.P. includes successfully passing the Technical Examination.  In order to do so, you need:

  • experience working with comprehensive financial planning clients;
  • extensive technical knowledge on many topics including advanced financial planning strategies; and
  • time management skills as they apply to exam-writing.

For CFA® Charterholders & CFP® Professionals, the Institute recommends the Personal Financial Planner's Manual™ and the Gobeil's Strategic Financial Planning Study Aid™.

For all other candidates, the Institute recommends the Works with the addition of the Collection of 1,000 Questions™.

The Personal Financial Planner's Manual™

will guide you through current and up-to-date concepts, definitions and strategies required to address client’s needs with examples as to how they apply to client situations that you would find on the examinations

The Manual includes 67 chapters addressing the components of financial planning as defined in The Professional Competency Profiles: financial planning practices, financial management, income tax planning, investment planning, education planning, risk management, retirement planning and estate planning.

Constructed-Response Case Studies

Gobeil's Strategic Financial Planning Study Aid ™

includes 75 constructed-response case situations, an e-Book on Strategic Financial Planning, and 180 multiple-choice questions.

The constructed-response cases will familiarize you with the situations and formats to develop, evaluate and recommend strategies. The E-Book provides you with guidance in identifying and evaluating financial planning strategies and implementing a financial plan. The multiple-choice questions provide you with an emphasis upon synthesis: the development, evaluation and recommendation of strategies.

1,000 Questions

Gobeil’s Collection of 1,000 Questions™

is the 1,100+ multiple-choice questions that have been used by over 20,000 candidates to prepare for the financial planning exams.

You will become familiar with the format of the questions. The concepts, definitions, calculations required to answer each question are included and the solutions explain why each answer is right or wrong.

This is the easiest way to review of all of the technical information required for success on this exam. You can be sure that you have updated your technical knowledge of the Income Tax Act and other legislation as the questions are up to date for the current year.
